SCBA Mask Cleaning

SCBA respirators are an important safety feature in the workplace today employs. They are used by anyone from firefighters to hazardous industrial applications. Immersion is the best way to ensure that all the SCBA gear is disinfected. Simply immerse the equipment for at least 2 minutes in the disinfectant to use, and then rinse thoroughly under running water.Rinsing is very important for this process, because the disinfectant can cause skin irritation, if not completely removed from the SCBA mask and equipment. After having to rinse thoroughly, dry and re-assemble all the components. Then check and ensure that all components are functioning properly and safely.

Ultrasonic cleaning is another method commonly used for cleaning disinfecting respirators and SCBA equipment. Ultrasonic cleaning has been around for decadesand is used in applications ranging from biomedical to jewelry cleaning. Ultrasonic energy causes cavitation in a cleaning solution used. Small bubbles form and implode during this process. This creates a powerful detergent action that cleans the SCBA gear. This process cleans much better than with a hand-wash bleach or iodine solution.

After the use of either one of the existing methods of disinfection are the SCBA mask and gear for the next person to use the readya dangerous situation.
